The electronic and robotic Pool Cleaners use motors for movement and cleaning of the pool. An external power chord is attached to them for supplying the power.

The electronic Pool Cleaners mainly consist of the drive motor, processor and the pump. The pump motor runs to draw the water inside the robot which in turn passes through the filter where all the debris is collected, and the clean water is released to the pool again. This phenomenon gives rise to suction, which assists in cleaning the sides of the pool. The filter bag collects all the debris. It is to be hand cleaned before sending the robot for another cleaning operation. The processor on board the Automatic Pool Cleaner helps to set the cleaning time appropriate according to the size of the pool. The robotic Pool Cleaners have sensors mounted on them for avoiding collision and to cover the entire area of the pool.
